Our FGAS Category 1(FCAT1 / Course 2079-11) is designed for engineers, apprentices, installers, maintenance teams, and anyone working with refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump systems containing fluorinated greenhouse gases.

This course provides the knowledge, practical skills, and assessment required for candidates to work safely and competently on F-Gas systems. An FCAT1 / Course 2079-11  allows qualified individuals to carry out all key activities on relevant RACHP systems, including installation, servicing, maintenance, leak checking, recovery, and decommissioning.

What does the course cover?

Candidates will receive practical and theory-based training covering the essential requirements of FGAS FCAT1 / Course 2079-11, including:

• Safe handling of fluorinated greenhouse gases
• Environmental responsibilities and legal requirements
• Leak detection and safe refrigerant recovery
• Installation, service, and maintenance procedures
• Pressure testing, evacuation, and charging
• System components, controls, and basic fault-finding
• Practical preparation for assessment

What does the candidate get?

On successful completion, candidates will receive the relevant FGAS FCAT1 / Course 2079-11 qualification/certificate, enabling them to demonstrate competence to work on refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump systems containing F-Gas refrigerants, subject to the awarding body’s assessment and certification process. City & Guilds describes successful learners as legally entitled to work on these systems in the UK in line with F-Gas and ODS requirements.
