Please read before booking

This is a refrigerant-handling qualification course. It is not a complete course in installing, commissioning, servicing, fault-finding or repairing heat pumps, air conditioning or refrigeration equipment.

The course teaches the refrigerant-side procedures covered by the qualification. Wider work on complete systems requires appropriate technical knowledge, equipment training and practical experience.

If you want to learn how to install or repair heat pumps or air conditioning systems, please contact our training team before booking to discuss your training needs.

Who should attend?

Engineers, apprentices, installers and maintenance personnel who need F-Gas Category 1 certification for refrigerant-related work.

Candidates who are new to the industry or unsure about their suitability should speak to our training team before booking.

What does the course cover?

  • Safe handling of F-Gas refrigerants.

  • Environmental responsibilities and F-Gas requirements.

  • Leak detection and checking.

  • Safe refrigerant recovery.

  • Pressure testing, evacuation and charging.

  • Relevant system principles and components to support refrigerant handling.

  • Preparation for theory and practical assessment.

What will you achieve?

On successfully passing the required assessments, you will receive the City & Guilds 2079-11 Category 1 qualification.

You will gain practical experience in the refrigerant-handling procedures covered by the course and evidence of achieving the knowledge and skills assessed by the qualification.

The qualification addresses the F-Gas requirements for relevant activities on refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump systems. It does not, by itself, demonstrate competence in every aspect of installing, servicing or repairing that equipment.
